Working Together Project adds online bookings

Local voluntary sector training provider Working Together Project has introduced online booking for its latest training courses, which means that people can now use the web to book and pay for over 30 courses, including community training and organisational development. The switch is part of a website upgrade carried out by SCIP that uses EventBrite event management to accept bookings and online payments but can also issue an invoice.

"EventBrite is used by all sorts of organisations to handle bookings and promote training courses so this facility fits well with our plans to market the training we offer. We will still handle enquiries over the phone but, for many people, online booking is a simple way of getting the training they need.”

“We're confident it will increase the number of people who book onto courses because the process is so much smoother than all that pfaffing you used to get booking a course in the olden days, so attrition rates are lower. ”

SCIP's web designer Mark James sees more and more people using EventBrite, which can be used for free when the event is free.

"There is a bit of work needed to do at the start but once the system is up and running it is easy to add details of individual courses. SCIP has used it for several years and we are seeing lots of other clients trying it out.

"There are alternatives, such as Amiando, which we are also investigating. They all do more or less the same thing but costs can vary depending on how you will be using it. Most do not charge for free events but all of them take a monthly fee or a percentage of the ticket price, or both. For anyone running events it's worth doing a little bit of research to see how much it costs and the benefits it could offer."

“A huge advantage is that once the date of the course has passed it is not displayed on the website. This cuts down on the amount of editing people need to do on their websites. If you run a WordPress site there is an Eventbrite plug-in which displays all the information about your events within your site."
