The story about cheaper chips from November generated a lot of interest from people looking for cheap laptops and desktops, including a few after a bargain as a Christmas present.

The advent of a new Intel chip means suppliers are clearing out stock of computers that would have been state of the art just two months ago, and the prices have continued to tumble, meaning you can now pick up a high spec Lenovo PC, with Windows 7 Professional for just £300 + VAT.This is at least £100, or 25% less than an equivalent computer would have cost in September.
