SCIP explores new green computing options

SCIP has agreed a deal with IT supplier NComputing to offer innovative green computing products to local charities and businesses. Read on to find out the latest.

NComputing claims that its systems save 75% on hardware, and by drawing less than 5 watts, can reduce each user's energy footprint by as much as 90%. SCIP CEO Rob Gentles explains why deals like this are important:

"None of the not for profit organisations and businesses we support can live without PCs, but we all know that most current systems consume too much electricity and generate high levels of e-waste. As a social enterprise we always want to find sustainable ways of learning to live with IT and NComputing is offering a realistically-priced option that can work when we're supplying networks.

NComputing's innovative products use thin client technology to share the power of one PC with many users. Today's PCs are so powerful that we no longer need one for each person. This system uses just 1 to 5 watts, lasts for a decade, and generates just a few ounces of e-waste."

Based in Brighton, SCIP supplies, installs and supports hardware and software to not for profit and business clients across Sussex. To find out more about these new solutions, and our affordable IT support contracts, please call Andy Fairhall on 01273 234049.
