Make our city a better place at CityCamp Brighton

CityCamp Brighton is a marvellous idea for all the community-minded, creative people in Brighton who want to make our city a better place using social media – but need some help.

The simple idea is to get everyone together – some with ideas, others with skills, and some with time or enthusiasm and see what can happen.

People get together into groups to share ideas and work together over a weekend to make those ideas better and more practical. Representatives from the council and a variety of public services will be there to help develop the ideas.

Supported by the council and the NHS, and organised by the Democratic Society, the aim is to find ways to improve services using new technology.

The best ideas will be given grants for further development ranging from £250 to a maximum of £5000. This year the total of grants available is £20,000.

This year’s event takes place on 2 – 4 March and you can come along to a bit or the entire event. If you can’t make the event, you can always send your pitch electronically.

As the technology and Internet experts for community groups in the city, we’re right behind this project and we may be able to help.

If you have an idea for CityCamp but would like to talk about it before you attend the weekend or send your pitch, why not have a chat with us? We’ll be able to give you some advice on ways to make your idea even better.

If you need advice for CityCamp, contact Mark or Andy on 01273 234 791 or email andy@scip.org.uk
