Back to school for SCIP
Patcham High School in Brighton has a great new website to help parents, pupils and the wider community keep up to date with what's going on. Designed to be as easy as possible for different people to keep update, it brings a range of information and resources under one umbrella, such as the parent and pupil gateway, information about vacancies and a subscription to the school newsletter.
School Communications Officer Carrie Potter is delighted with the new site; "It’s great to look at,” she says “but it's also much easier for us to keep it up-to-date. The heads of department will be keeping it updated and the work with SCIP included training so they know how to access it and what's expected of them. Considering the range of people involved and the different decisions we needed to take, it's been a very smooth process and we're excited about the impact it will have on our profile."
SCIP web designer, Mark James, is also pleased with the result, especially as it’s the first site SCIP has built for a school.
"We mainly work with charities, so working with a school has brought a lot of unique challenges. Lots of their information systems are protected behind a firewall, so we needed to think carefully about what appears in public and how to provide access to systems that need to be secure. We've used the same Wordpress system that we use on most of the sites we built, but we've provided a different range of training to support the implementation."
