IT Health Check & Skills Audit
This package reviews how IT works within your organisation. It reviews both the technical side of existing systems and the skills available to use IT to effectively deliver services. The whole process takes about half a day and produces a comprehensive report, including recommendations.
The IT health check element will give you a better understanding of your current ICT capacity and vulnerabilities. The skills audit component will illustrate the differing levels of IT knowledge and experience, and signpost you to appropriate training opportunities. The exercise is in four parts:
- We hold informal interviews with one or two people with a leading role in the organisation. This should take no more than 45 minutes per person and should involve the person responsible for IT management and the person responsible for training and development (sometimes the same person).
- Following this we discuss the various options available for IT training locally - including some fully subsidised courses offered through the BASIS project.
- Where possible an audit is then carried out on each PC to determine its usefulness to carry out its function, its level of protection against viruses and other threats, etc.
- We then prepare a detailed report covering two areas:
- your organisation's IT system highlighting the issues and recommendations for each PC;
- current levels of IT skills and knowledge and the options available for staff development.
It is not a test to see if equipment is up to scratch, and we not are judging the skill and knowledge of staff and volunteers. The aim is to help organisations achieve the best from their IT. The report will be a valuable tool to help you assess and plan your ICT needs - short and long term.
