Embedded IT Project
What is the best way to learn the IT skills you need? For a long time we have offered a range of courses that focus on the software package you will be using - courses such as Powerpoint, Excel or DreamWeaver. These courses can be very effective, but there are a lot of them around and not everyone finds them suitable.
In 2008 SCIP was funded by the Big Lottery Fund to work with Brighton-based charity Working Together Project to develop and deliver a range of new training courses which embed relevant IT skills in courses such as report-writing, budgeting and fundraising. This three-year programme is enabling us to develop new courses, as well as working with trainers to embed appropriate IT skills in existing courses.
The project is funding full-time posts at both SCIP and Working Together Project, as well as a range of outreach work and up to 50 workshops each year across Sussex. These are coordinated with a variety of networks, especially CVSs and ChangeUp Consortia and the input of various development workers.
Courses are typically advertised through local networks and a full list is available on the training section of this site.
Please contact the SCIP office on 01273 234049 for more details.
